Sao Mai Group, formerly known as An Giang Provincial Architectural Joint Venture Company, was established in 1988. On March 5, 1997, in line with the country's economic openness and integration, key executives formed the Sao Mai Construction Joint Stock Company of An Giang Province. This was the first non-state-owned enterprise in An Giang Province to have a Party cell of the ruling party. Starting as a small business with fewer than 50 employees and a charter capital of 905 million VND, Sao Mai Group has since experienced remarkable growth, becoming a major corporation with a current workforce of 12,000 and a charter capital of 7,433 billion VND (including all subsidiaries).

Today, Sao Mai Group is recognized as one of Vietnam's leading and most profitable corporations. The Group has diversified investments in various sectors, including real estate, aquaculture, value-added processing of pangasius, consulting, tourism, overseas labor recruitment, and renewable energy.

In the real estate sector, Sao Mai Group is a leading enterprise in the Mekong Delta region. Over the years, the Group has accumulated a substantial land bank in prime locations across provinces such as Ca Mau, Kien Giang, Can Tho, An Giang, Dong Thap, Hau Giang, Tien Giang, Ben Tre, Ho Chi Minh City, Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Dak Nong, Thanh Hoa, and Hoa Binh. This extensive land bank ensures a steady pipeline of real estate projects for the Group.

In the aquaculture and seafood processing sector, the International Investment and Development Corporation (IDI), a member of Sao Mai Group, is one of Vietnam's top two pangasius exporters. IDI currently owns two frozen pangasius processing plants with a capacity of 900 tons of raw materials per day, four cold storage warehouses with a total capacity of 40,000 tons, a fishmeal and fish oil processing plant with a capacity of 450 tons of by-products per day, and a fish oil refining plant with a capacity of 200 tons of finished products per day. To achieve a closed production chain, in late 2017, Sao Mai Group put into operation a feed mill with a capacity of nearly 400,000 tons per year, making it the largest of its kind in Vietnam at that time. Sao Mai is one of the few pangasius businesses to have established a closed production chain, from fingerlings, farming, to feed production, processing of fresh and frozen products, by-product processing. Subsequently, the Group has focused on research to maximize the value of pangasius, applying deep processing technology, diversifying products, and aiming for sustainable development of Vietnam's aquaculture industry.

In the services and tourism sector, Sao Mai Group has made early investments, starting with Sao Mai Resort Vung Tau, which opened in 2003. After prioritizing resources for real estate and aquaculture, the Group decided to make a breakthrough in tourism, and Sao Mai quickly became the parent company of Dong Thap Tourism Joint Stock Company in 2014 and An Giang Tourism Joint Stock Company in 2016. These two state-owned enterprises, with long-standing tourism brands and valuable assets, have immense potential for development. After being restructured and invested in by the Group, these companies have undergone a transformation, with a new look, new journey, and renewed vitality, capable of leading the tourism industry in their respective localities. In addition, the Group is also investing in other tourism projects such as LAMORI Resort & Spa in Thanh Hoa, a 5-star hotel in Ca Mau City, and a 5-star hotel in Sa Dec City, Dong Thap Province. In the near future, Sao Mai will surely reap rewards, and tourism will be one of the Group's main pillars.

In design consulting sector, the rapid annual investment growth, consistently in double digits, and the continuous emergence of new projects require Sao Mai to be self-sufficient in construction consulting activities to meet the growing needs of the business. Therefore, since 2004, Sao Mai has established a subsidiary specializing in construction consulting, providing services such as feasibility study reports, planning schemes, construction design, construction supervision, surveying, and inspection. This subsidiary is now known as Consulting and Financial Investment Joint Stock Company (ASTAR). After 19 years of development, ASTAR has a team of over 100 well-trained architects, engineers, and technicians with extensive experience gained through large-scale projects of the Group. ASTAR is a valuable asset, undertaking all construction consulting services for most of Sao Mai Group's investment and development projects.

In labor export sector, International Media and Financial Investment Corporation (MIF), a member of Sao Mai Group, was established in 2018 to send workers, especially rural workers, to study and work abroad, in line with the Party and State's policy. MIF became the first company in the Mekong Delta to be licensed to operate in labor export. Since then, with well-equipped facilities, a professional operating system, and dedicated staff, MIF has trained and sent hundreds of trainees to Japan for study and work, achieving remarkable results. Upon returning, they have become new individuals with new skills and attitudes, contributing positively to the modernization of agriculture and rural areas.

In renewable energy exploitation from solar, wind, tide, hydropower, biomass, etc., to generate electricity, which is a global trend and a priority of the Vietnamese government, a significant turning point came in 2017 when the Prime Minister issued Decision No. 11 on the mechanism to encourage the development of solar power projects, ushering in a new era of clean energy in Vietnam. Seizing this opportunity, Sao Mai Group quickly joined the race and became a pioneer in this field. By the end of 2017, Sao Mai had put into operation a 1.07 MWp rooftop solar power plant, the largest in Vietnam at that time. Subsequently, in 2019 and 2020, Sao Mai commissioned solar power plants in Long An with a capacity of 50 MWp and in An Giang with a capacity of 210 MWp. With its long-term plan, Sao Mai will continue to invest in many other large-scale solar power projects. Implementing its planned investment in the clean energy sector, in addition to ground-mounted solar power plants, the Group has also installed rooftop solar power systems on its production facilities. From an initial capacity of 1.07 MWp on the roof of one factory in the Sao Mai Industrial Park, almost all the remaining factory roofs have been covered with solar panels. Additionally, many other facilities of the Group have installed solar panels, increasing the total rooftop solar capacity to over 10MWp. This has helped the Group's business facilities be more proactive in their power supply and reduce energy costs during operations.

The achievements that Sao Mai has gained throughout its formation and development demonstrate that the Group is on the right track. With the solidarity and determination of the Leadership and staff in realizing the set mission and vision, Sao Mai Group will undoubtedly achieve significant breakthroughs, stable and sustainable development, and affirm the position of Vietnamese enterprises on the international stage.
